Maeve and Penny from Dogs Trust Ireland Visit

25th Feb 2020

We enjoyed meeting Penny and her owner Maeve. Penny was so calm and friendly. As Penny was so calm she calmed all of us down too! We learned a lot about looking after our pet dogs and also what to consider as sometimes even though we might like to get a pet dog it might not be the right time. We listened to a story about a dog that thought she had found a 'forever home' but the family were too busy to look after her properly and they had to give her away. Luckily in the end she did find a 'forever home' and she was looked after properly. We learned how to ask the dogs owner for permission to rub their dog and also that if they say no they are not being mean, it's just that their dog might not like to be rubbed by strangers! We learned the 'X factor' way to stay safe around dogs we don't know or are a bit afraid of. Dogs like to sniff our hands first to check if we are friendly or not! We also now know when to leave a dog to themselves...when eating or sleeping. Penny was fabulous and as we were listening so well to Maeve, it was so quiet that Penny even fell sound asleep! Thanks for visiting us, and also for the certificates and stickers!
