Hero Bear's Visit to Senior Infants

19th Mar 2019

We were so excited when we heard Hero Bear would be visiting Ireland and that he chose our class - Senior Infants in Holy Trinity N.S. Fethard out of all of the schools in the country to visit!!

Hero travels all around the world promoting Health and Well-Being. He began his world tour in the USA and first travelled to Canada. Then he arrived in Fethard.

While Hero was with us we had a Healthy Breakfast morning with porridge, wholemeal toast, fruit and freshly squeezed orange juice. Yummy! Another day we made smoothies and did some mindfulness activities.

We then taught Hero some Irish words. We taught him some words for food items example - arán, im, banana buí, sú oráiste, iogart, agus bainne. We all used the phrase "Is maith liom ___ . Tá sé blasta!"

Next we listed all the things that Ireland is famous for and in particular Tipperary/Fethard. We stuck some pictures into Hero's passport so he would remember his visit. Hero was lucky as while he was with us two teams travelled to Semple Stadium and Hero got to go too (Thanks Mrs. Fitzgerald). We were delighted as after all Tipperary is the home of Hurling and Fethard the home of Gaelic Football!!!

We were very sad when we had to say farewell to Hero but we were excited for Hero as he was on his way to another beautiful part of the world - Sri Lanka.  Have a look at the video to see all the fun times we shared with Hero.
